Hey there, Happy Tuesday!
I recently stumbled upon a quote that struck a chord with me: "You're crazy until you're successful. Then you're a genius." Isn't it fascinating how often the world fails to see the vision, the dream, the hard work behind the scenes?
When you're a creator, an artist, or someone who follows their dreams, the journey is often a solitary one. You might find yourself consumed by your craft, working long hours, sacrificing a "normal" life, and even forgoing the occasional Friday night out with friends. People may look at you with a raised eyebrow, doubting your choices, even calling you obsessive, crazy, or out of touch with reality. And you know what? That's okay!
If you've ever felt like you're swimming against the current, if you've ever felt like you're alone in your ambitions, take a moment to remember that every visionary, every genius, was once seen as crazy. It's the ones who dared to think differently, the ones who chased their dreams with unwavering focus, who end up leaving a mark on the world.
So embrace your "craziness." Own it, love it, nurture it. Let it be the fuel that drives your creativity and pushes you to create something truly extraordinary. Because when you're dedicated to your craft, and pouring your heart and soul into what you love, that's when the magic happens.
Remember, you're not alone. There are so many of us out there, chasing our dreams, working long hours, pushing through the pain and the struggle. But it's worth it. And when success comes knocking, it won't matter what people once thought or said. You'll have proved to yourself and the world that your dreams were valid all along.
Keep pushing, keep creating, keep being "crazy." Because one day, they'll call you a genius.
What’s New?
This week I’m actually super proud because we dropped Dot’s remix of Hurts w/ Sara Phillips on Sound. There are no words to express how grateful and mind-blown I am about this remix… It’s insane.
The public sale is open until Thursday at 2pm EST.
Big shoutout to all the people that have collected so far, it really means the world to us.
Collect the drop here.
Creative Corner
Constraints can be a powerful tool for boosting creativity. One challenge I like to set for myself is the "30 ideas in 30 days" exercise. The goal is simple: come up with one unique musical idea each day for a month. These could be short melodies, beats, chord progressions, or sound design experiments. The aim isn't to create polished tracks, but rather to push your creative boundaries and accumulate a pool of ideas to draw from.
Another effective challenge is the "one-synth challenge" where you use a single synthesizer for an entire track. This forces you to delve deep into the instrument and explore creative ways to shape sounds. Similarly, the "limited sample challenge" involves picking a small set of samples (5-8) and using only those for a track. By working within these constraints, you learn to manipulate and process sounds in innovative ways, and ultimately become a more resourceful producer.
